Lloyd Minick, Co-founder - Lloyd is an Austin native with a deep passion for sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and good food. His diverse professional background includes experience in construction, design, project management, farming, sales, business development, and education, as well as more than four years of researching and working with commercial aquaponics systems. Lloyd holds a BA in Psychology from Southwestern University and, in 2012, he earned a MA in Integral Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, with a thesis that focused on the psychology of leadership, innovation, and social entrepreneurship. Lloyd has been a serial entrepreneur throughout his life, and he brings to the Ten Acre Organics team his strengths in vision, strategy, design & engineering, as well as qualities of enthusiasm, passion, clarity, and drive.
Michael Hanan, Co-founder - Michael Hanan is a seventh-generation Texan, and a long-time advocate for sustainability and local food in Austin. After starting off his career in the sustainable landscaping and nursery industry, Michael began working on multiple farms throughout Central Texas before joining the Sustainable Food Center to manage farmers' markets throughout Austin. All the while, Michael was developing his knowledge and expertise around aquaponics, beginning with the small aquaponics system in his backyard. He brings to the team his strengths in aquaponics system design and engineering, horticulture, research and development, sales, marketing, and strategic vision. Michael holds a BA in Political Science from Southwestern University.
Grayson Oheim, Farm Manager - With experience working on organic farms in India, Italy, and now Texas, Grayson brings his farming skills to the Ten Acre Organics team as Farm Manager. Grayson cares for the plants, by watering, fertilizing and maintaining pests, and helps with general farm maintenance. Additionally, Grayson has experience doing water analysis, and helps monitor the levels in our aquaponics systems. He also enjoys soccer, working at SFC as Farmers’ Market Coordinator, and enjoying Austin’s amazing food scene. Grayson holds a BA in Environmental Science from Southwestern University. Kimberly Griffin, Resource Development Coordinator – Kimberly researches funding prospects and prepares proposals for grants and loans. She has experience with a variety of fund development strategies, including private grants, federal grants, loans, sponsor relations, and fundraising events. Kimberly holds a BA in Environmental Studies and Spanish from Southwestern University. With a passion for social justice, sustainability, and good food, she is excited to work on such an important project.
Marie Franki, Marketing & PR Specialist – With a background in fine art and literature, Marie brings her artistic and linguistic skills to bear on the communications and marketing campaigns for TAO. In her professional life, Marie is involved in the entrepreneurial community through her position at a local incubator, and is an active editorial contributor for Edible Austin. She is passionate about growing businesses, vegetables and chickens, and sometimes flexes her culinary skills by turning TAO-grown cucumbers and basil into pickles and pesto. Marie holds a B.A. in English Literature, with minors in Studio Art and Philosophy, from Southwestern University.
Mike Jeffcoat, Culture Specialist - Mike was one of the original team members of Ten Acre Organics and continues to develop the business by driving initiatives in company culture and organizational strategy. He holds a M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Southwestern University. His professional experience includes individual and family therapy, business consulting, and group mediation. He brings to the team his strengths in organizing, coaching, consultation, human development, and public speaking. On the side, Mike enjoys strategy games, science fiction, yoga, and philosophy.
